How Holiday Ornaments Elevated a Boutique Hotel’s Existing Christmas Décor

Creating an impressive festive display does not always mean replacing everything you already own. For one boutique hotel, the challenge was to take its existing Christmas décor and transform it into something more polished, cohesive and memorable for guests.

The Challenge

The hotel already had Christmas decorations from the previous festive season. Individually, many of the pieces could still be used, but the overall display needed stronger visual direction.

The objective was to create a professional boutique-hotel finish across several guest-facing spaces, including the reception area, Christmas trees, lounge and feature staircase.

The décor needed to complement the hotel's existing neutral interior rather than compete with it. It also needed enough presence to create a sense of occasion and provide the "wow" factor expected during the festive season.

Creating a Cohesive Ornament Palette

We developed a bright, modern scheme built around champagne gold, warm white, vanilla and deep forest green.

A coordinated selection of Christmas ornaments became the thread connecting the separate spaces. Matte champagne and green baubles were mixed with selected shimmer finishes, gold floral details, velvet ribbon, greenery and warm-white lighting.

Using ornaments in different sizes created depth and fullness, while repeating the same colours throughout the hotel made each area feel like part of one considered festive experience.

A personalised ornament was also created as a subtle branded detail for the main tree. This added a sense of place without overwhelming the overall design.

Working With the Hotel's Existing Décor

Rather than discarding everything from the previous year, suitable pieces were incorporated into the new design.

The difference came from editing the selection, introducing a controlled colour palette and repeating key ornaments and materials throughout the property. The reception, trees, lounge and staircase could therefore feel connected without every area looking identical.

The hotel selected the elevated styling approach, which provided additional fullness and stronger visual continuity across the main guest areas.

Décor was coordinated by installation area, with placement and styling guidance supplied to help achieve the intended balance and finish.

The Result

The completed décor achieved the more professional, cohesive and impressive result the hotel wanted.

Existing Christmas decorations were given a new purpose, while the coordinated ornaments, ribbon and greenery created a clear visual identity throughout the guest experience.

The project demonstrated that carefully chosen holiday ornaments can do far more than decorate a Christmas tree. They can establish the entire colour story, connect separate areas and transform familiar décor into something that feels considered and new.
